Over the past year Fiadh has re-released extremely hard-to-find albums from PNW experimental black metal stalwarts Hail, comprised of scene veterans Carl Annala & Set Sothis Nox La. Hail’s last full-length was 2010’s Infinite Cascadian Darkness & we still have some copies available. We now have in hand new material from the band in the form of We Are Nothing, which will be released September 29th on cassette and vinyl in limited numbers:

"Most of the material on We Are Nothing was written nearly ten years ago. Hail had lost another rhythm section and we chose to go in a new direction as a two piece. We would do some sort of "ritual power electronics" not really knowing what that means or how to make it. In the end it seemed like we did music concrete more than using actual electronics like synthesizers. Brian Booty and I developed Yes I can, The Hound of Heaven and Cut the Blood as live pieces and we performed them in clubs and at small festivals on both coasts. When we did find a rhythm section that could play both metal and noise in Lloyd Frank and Brain Sauder, we made these pieces even stronger, as you hear them here on the Fiadh release. The title track, We Are Nothing, came to me while writing a suite of songs over a tense weekend for this new lineup of Hail. I was listening to some modern classical music by Philip Glass, and found a passage of music intriguing, then found how to play it backwards, which led to the music of the song We Are Noting. The title is a reflection of how unimportant we are as individuals to the whole. The lyrics come directly from the choreographic notation of Tatsumi Hijikata, the founder of Butoh, a dance practice that deemphasizes the ego. The cover art features two mummies, a woman and a bound child, that I photographed at the San Diego Museum of man. These images function both as memento mori and as a reminder to my own difficult upbringing. This record, for me, stands defiantly against abuse everywhere. - Carl Annala"
