Crooked Mouth was founded by Canadian band leader Ian Campbell in 2012 seeking an expression for a budding interest in the nature-mysticism of his native British Columbia, but the project's scope soon became ever-larger, touching on questions of identity, a longing for the divine in a spiritually destitute world, and a search for allies to share in the process of rejuvenation.

In 2022 Campbell relocated to Vilnius, Lithuania, to study Baltic folk traditions, and was quickly joined by a fellow seeker in a strange land, Adam Ormes, who provides the live band with percussion and a variety of other instruments. The band has redefined itself to become a focal point for wandering foreign musicians with the same obscure interests. This productive year has seen collaborations with Finland's Aurinkopyörä, Prussian Romowe Rikoito, and Lithuanian musicians Virginija Pievos and Agota Zdanaviciute, as well as the recording of the band's 4th full-length album.
